Bank Mergers Predicted to Continue
According to American Banker, an ongoing favorable regulatory climate will contribute to the continued acceleration of bank mergers. It is predicted that by 2030, consolidations of some larger regional banks could result in up to three more institutions reaching the $1 trillion-asset level. In addition to banks wanting to take advantage of a favorable regulatory environment, banks are moving more quickly to complete these mergers by approving deals more quickly, likely motivated by pressures brought to bear with a need to scale the organization, to increase deposit growth, and to grow fee income opportunities.
